The Parks Project x Outdoor Afro collection is inspired by our relationship with nature—in the words of Outdoor Afro founder Rue Mapp, in nature “we are all, as humans, equally empowered and equally vulnerable.”
Parks Project believes in the importance of Outdoor Afro's mission to cultivate Black leadership in the outdoors; this collaboration celebrates the way that coming together around a mutual love of nature is a shared, empowering experience.
Featuring apparel and accessories, the collection was designed by Oakland-based artist Joonbug and inspired by the joy to be found in the outdoors. A portion of each sale supports Outdoor Afro and their mission to create and inspire Black connections and leadership in nature.
Outdoor Afro has become the nation's leading cutting-edge network that celebrates and inspires Black connections and leadership in nature. They are an organization with not for profit networks around the country. With over 80 leaders in 42 cities around the country, they connect thousands of people to outdoor experiences and are changing the face of conservation.
We're proud to have worked with Oakland-based artist Joonbug on our collaboration with Outdoor Afro. Joonbug describes himself as a mutlidisciplinary artist whose "Jamaican roots largely influence the voice in his work, where sensible thinking and style bridges as rhythmic soul and character."
