On Saturday, January 25, we teamed up with the National Parks Conservation Association and the Mission Continues for a Service Day in the Verdugo Mountains in Glendale, California.

Approximately 80 volunteers came out to Brand Park that morning and removed extensive amounts of invasive species, amounting to nearly two dumpsters-worth! Volunteers also removed graffiti.  A special thank you to City Council Member Paula Devine, for coming by to say a few words of appreciation to the volunteers, and Deveron Shudic for her leadership in the coordination of the event.

The NPCA also shared information about the proposed Rim of the Valley expansion of the Santa Monica Mts. Nat'l Recreation Area, which will bring support from the National Park Service to the management and protection of the Verdugo Mts.
