Yosemite National Park, CA

Our team took a company sabbatical and travelled up to Yosemite National Park for the annual Yosemite Facelift event, sponsored by the Yosemite Climbing Association. We worked with NPS Rangers in El Capitan Meadow removing and naturalizing social trails to restore the meadow. Social trails are unofficial trails that are created over time as people repeatedly walk off trail and compact the soil. This compacted soil reduces plant growth and water absorption, and subsequently the amount of insect life that the meadow can sustain. Our crew worked for about 6 hours! Lesson learned: stay on official trails!
