In April, Parks Project was thrilled to celebrate Earth Month alongside our friends at Friends of the LA River during one of their Earth Day events. Collectively, we hosted over 380 volunteers to leave the river better than we found it.
A dedicated group of 380 volunteers joined us to restore the local habitat and remove invasive plants from the Sepulveda Basin Wildlife Reserve. Over the course of the afternoon we successfully:
- Removed over 16,300 gallons of invasive vegetation across 1.08 acres of the Reserve
- Learned about the impact of invasive species on the environment with the California Native Plant Society
- Created over 1,850 hand-made seedballs using native plant species
- Learned about local birds and wildlife along the Reserve with San Fernando Valley Audubon Society and FoLAR Educators
Take a look into the day with us through the photo story below and celebrate the incredible local action through the above video. Thanks to everyone who came out to leave it better alongside the release of our Parks Project X FoLAR collection to support the LA River.
