10 Ways to Leave Nature Better Than You Found It

For the second year running, the Parks Project crew went out to the Yosemite Facelift to give back to Yosemite National Park.
We spent the first day working the David Campbell, a National Park Service biologist. Our project: to help restore native plant habitat critical to supporting the rapidly dwindling monarch butterfly population. We transplanted buckwheat to a restoration area, and also harvested seeds from Tincture Plant (Collinsia tinctoria), Yarrow, and milkweed.
We spent the next day on bicycles doing some clean-up around the park, focusing on issue areas along the road. Although the park was remarkably clean, we were able to collect 7 lbs of microtrash from around the park.
Parks Project is an official sponsor of Yosemite Facelift, an annual clean-up event hosted by the Yosemite Climbing Association and National Park Service.
