Catalina Island
Collection
In collaboration with Catalina Island Conservancy, this limited-edition collection champions the Island’s unique ecosystems and the people working to keep it wild. From native plant protection, invasive species removal and habitat restoration, the Conservancy ensures Catalina continues to thrive as a place for people to enjoy now and into the future.
Catalina Island Plants and Animals
Catalina Island is home to many endemic plants and animals, meaning they're found nowhere else in the world. But the pervasive non-native and invasive species introduced to this Island by humans over the years threaten the delicate balance of the environment. The Conservancy works to remove these threats and support the native species that support a healthy ecosystem.
Santa Catalina Island Fox
The island fox (Urocyon littoralis) is a diminutive relative of the mainland gray fox (Urocyon cinereoargenteus) and is endemic to six of the largest California Channel Islands, each with their own distinct subspecies.
- They're Catalina Islands largest native mammal and they play an important role as a keystone species and apex predator.
Santa Catalina Island Deer Mouse
Each of the Channel Islands is home to an endemic subspecies of deer mouse (Peromyscus slevini) that is found nowhere else on Earth.
- The deer mouse population is critical to the Island ecosystem, serving as food for predators and as seed consumers, particularly of non-native and invasive plants.
